These are the base magic skills that I’m using for ARS, though it is designed to be modular based on your setting. The General Three magic skills, if you just wish to have those, are Arcana, Divine, and Primal. The Magic Rules will better explain how to use these skills.
Aithergy (INT)
Knowing how to use and activate Aither, this skill allows characters to draw upon Aither and perform magical effects. This acts like casting a specific spell.
Installing Aither (trained)
Installing an Aither Crystal onto armor or weapons is similar to crafting an item or enhancing said item, but uses this skill instead.
Arcana (INT)
Arcana is required to have knowledge of magic and spells. Recalling knowledge of arcana lets you know about certain spells, or bits of magic knowledge. You can make an Arcana DCR 3+tier of the spell to identify the spell being cast or what kind of magic is being used.
Training in arcana allows the ability to cast or counter magic and spells. Training in magic also allows the ability to craft magical items, and is used with Craft or Artificery.
Artificery (INT)
Artificery is the magical knowledge and knowhow of artificer crafting. Artificery is required to make and operate Artificer devices, and follow normal crafting rules. Artificery can be used to recall knowledge on artificer lore.
Divine (WIL)
Divine covers the magic traits of Divine casting, and how divine magic works. For religions and knowledges on planes, see the Lore skill.
Occult (CUN)
Secretive magics that deal in terrible powers and forbidden knowledge, Occult is used for occult magic and recalling knowledge and lore, forbidden magics, and entities related to the occult.
Primal (CUN)
Primal covers the magic and lore of shamans and druids, and often crosses over with the Nature skill. Primal covers traditions of tribes and druid circles.
Psionic (WIL)
Psionic uses a set of powers outside of the normal magic rules, which are covered in the Magic Traditions section. Psionic skill is used for the Psionic powers and recalling lore of Psionic, both powers, users, and beasts using psionics.
Mysticism (WIL)
Specific to the Starsong and Cyberlon setting, Mysticism covers what other magic skills normally would cover, excluding Kinesis.
